Accessorize thy kitchen
DESU Design just goes to show that simple, beautiful and green can coexist beautifully. The Inversion Bowl (left) is made of certified renewable cellulose fiber and resin. The white material for HUG (right) is similar to Corian or Avonite, and looks equally clean & elegant.

I work at DESU Design and I’m thrilled that you love our products. I can say that the Inversion Bowl is truly green. The cellulose is harvested from sustainable forests in North America, the heat from the manufacturing process is reused and the final product doesn’t off-gas. On top of that, we seal the Inversion with a natural seed oil to give it a beautiful luster. However, “white solid surface” is a material known as “solid surface” (helpful, I know) and it’s made by Avonite, similar to Corian. I’m not 100% sure on the eco-friendly properties of the HUG, but I don’t think it’s classified as “green” and I don’t want to list it as such. I hope this clears things up. Green is definitely important to us, but we have to be honest about what qualifies so that our customers know they can trust us. Thanks again for the posting!
Hi Ellen! Beautiful designs, both of them! Thanks for the clarification and insight on the materials. From what I understand, “green” has wildly varying degrees of qualification. If the folks who make it care and are greener in some ways than others, that’s enough in my book to give them my dollars. Especially if it’s beautiful. :)
